That PlayStation Vita looks promising doesn't it? Don't hold your breath for a Christmas release in the West though - it's not happening.Sony's Executive Vice President, Kaz Hirai, has announced that the new portable device will go on sale at the end of the year in Japan, while the US and Europe will have to wait for an early 2012 launch.
Bit of a turnaround from the "phased global rollout" promised earlier in the year - but Hirai stressed that the dates did not signify a 'delay' in its plans.
No specific dates were given, but what is concrete is that Sony will not be dropping the price of the Vita any time soon. "We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable," Hirai said.
Referring to Nintendo's own dramatic price cut on the 3DS, he added that, "there is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price."
