Gears of War 3 Trailer Shows Off Horde 2.0
Microsoft has released a gameplay trailer for Gears of War 3 that focuses on the revamped Horde 2.0 mode. And after having played it for a few rounds, we can tell you that it's very addictive.

Just as in Gears of War 2, you take on wave after wave of Locust enemies in a large arena, only this time there's a bit of tower defence strategy injected into the proceedings. You begin each round with a wad of money, with more cash earned from every kill. That sum is then used to spend on fortifications and barriers to keep enemies out of your turf.

Automatic gun turrets, barbed wires, manual turrets and wooden decoy imitations of Cole Train are just some of the distractions you can deploy to aid in your survival. At the end of each round, you can choose to repair any damaged obstacles or upgrade them by spending more cash on them. If you happen to die, you can also spend $500 to buy yourself back into the game.

Throw in bonus objectives that can earn the team more wonga, and bosses that appear every ten waves, and you've got yourself a re-imagined Horde mode that will keep you hooked for hours and hours. Check out the trailer below, which includes a preview of the theme song created by Ice-T's band, Body Count. Yeah, we sniggered too... until we actually listened to the song and realised it wasn't obnoxious hip-hop and some rather nice thrash metal instead. Surprise of the year? It's a contender.
