It was news we were all expecting at some point - Media Molecule is only a team made of human beings after all. The studio has indicated that it will be stepping away from the LittleBigPlanet franchise in order to challenge itself with new projects.
Edge magazine tweeted a quote from the studio's director Siobhan Reddy during the GameLab event in Barcelona, which says, "We're stepping away from LittleBigPlanet to focus on some new ideas."
What this means for LBP in particular is uncertain - it all depends on how far away Media Molecule chooses to 'step away' from the brand. No doubt the series will be in good hands though - while the British developer was behind the two PlayStation 3 games, SCEE Studio Cambridge handled a PSP version and Double11 is currently at work on a PSVita edition.
