Dead Island Writer: "Politicians Don't Understand"
Haris Orkin is the co-writer of two schlocky games coming soon to your console and PC, Call of Juarez: The Cartel and Dead Island and he's annoyed at politicians not understanding his work.

"Apparently many of these politicians don't understand who buys video games. According to the ESA's most recent statistics, 82% of video game players are over 18 and 29% are over 50.

"Some Mexican politicians have called for a ban on Call of Juarez: The Cartel (reported here) even though it's rated M for mature and is clearly not for children."

What's his answer?

"Maybe they shouldn't be called games, but interactive movies. Whatever you want to call them they are becoming the preferred entertainment medium for a large percentage of the population and those consumers want their games to be just as gritty and dramatic and exciting as any movie or television show."

Call of Juarez: The Cartel by the way, "has a deep and gritty storyline that begins with a fictional drug cartel bombing a U.S. law enforcement agency, devastating the building and killing hundreds of people."

Real world Juarez in Mexico, well, it's not a happy place.
