What has just happened: Crystal Dynamics have shown off the first exclusive gameplay footage of the Tomb Raider reboot, in where a young and once-fiesty Lara Croft is thrown into a dangerous life-threatening situation. Namely, she's been shipwrecked whilst on her way to her first adventure.
Set in a claustrophobic tunnel with nothing but a torch to guide her, our heroine has to crawl and swim her way through a series of tight caverns. We also see that Lara's not alone - creepy enemies start dashing after her and you have to ensure that she can scramble her way out of danger. The scenario climaxes with a desperate scene where Lara crawls out of a tunnel using alternating smashes of the trigger buttons.
Svend thinks: Crystal Dynamics was able to revitalise the Tomb Raider series once before, and after seeing this I firmly believe it can do it again. The old gameplay nuances of the original titles remain intact, while the brilliant scenarios allow for a more intimate and personal experience. Crawling out of the tunnel at the end of the demo... seeing Lara fight every inch of her life... yeah, I'm psyched for this.
