Japan Asks Why Nintendo's 3DS isn't Selling
Nintendo has a problem! Nobody's buying its 3DS handheld in Japan! Well, in actual fact it is selling, but just not in the numbers that everybody expected it to. After a round of early sellouts, the device has reportedly dropped under the 20,000 units mark on a weekly basis.

So what's going on then? Research firm Goo conducted a survey of 1,110 people that asked potential customers what was driving them away from the handheld. Top of the list was the price - the 3DS is too expensive for most gamers (and non-gamers).

Other reasons included eye strain concerns, few compelling games to play and satisfaction with a number of rival devices such as mobile phones, the PSP and even Nintendo's own DS and DSi.

Wasn't the PSP a similar price when it launched?
I'd put it down to the games available and the eshop delay.

Definitely the lack of new, interesting games that stops me from buying one.
