UK retailers have begun starting to sell Nintendo's Wii console for less than £100. Asda, Game and Gamestation are listing a bundle that includes Mario Kart Wii and a wheel peripheral for £99.99.
Other stores are following suit after Nintendo reduced the console's trade price earlier this month. Amazon is selling the hardware for £119.99 in white, but is matching Game's pricing for the black version for some reason. Tesco's price is £109, and HMV are offering the console for £114.99.
Naturally, this is one of the telling steps towards a refresh of Nintendo's home platform. A reveal of what is being codenamed Project Cafe is to take place during the company's E3 press conference next month.
To accompany the price drop on the Wii, Nintendo is also re-releasing a selection of games at a budget 'Nintendo Selects' range. Wii Sports, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Mario Strikers: Charged Football and Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City are listed in the promotion.
