Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has been gushing over Nintendo's next home console, suggesting that the hardware could be powerful enough to make ports of Xbox 360 and PS3 games.Generally, the French publisher is extremely excited about the mysterious new machine - and while Guillemot didn't divulge any technical details, he did mention that HD work is absolutely possible. Which is just as well, really.
"The platform Nintendo is coming with is really a fantastic platform. We think it will be extremely successful," the CEO said in an investor call. "What we see is that we will be able to leverage a lot of the work we do for Xbox 360 and PS3 while we create games for the platform.
"So we will not have to redo completely the games that we create. We'll be able to use all the capacity the console is giving but also use all the work we do for the other platforms."
Nintendo is set to unveil the first details of its new console, codenamed Project Cafe, at E3 next month. It will probably send Ubisoft a gift card or two for its rather glowing comments.
