With a new console preparing to make its début with Project Cafe which, let's face it is aimed at the 'Core' gamer, Nintendo has begun to reposition the Wii in terms of price at least. MCV for one states a price cut of the base unit to £129.The company states that on May 20th it will introduce an "entry level
Mario Kart Wii Pack... The new pack will contain a white Wii console, Wii Remote Plus, Nunchuk, Wii Wheel and a copy of
Mario Kart Wii."
We're also told that, "Nintendo has also announced that on 20th May 2011 it will be reducing the trade price of its existing
Wii Sports Resort Pack, which includes a black Wii console, Wii Remote Plus, Nunchuk and a copy of
Wii Sports and
Wii Sports Resort on one disc."
Also lined up is the 'Nintendo Selects range' of games. The company calls it a "value for money selection of popular Wii game titles for all the family."
Games in the list include:
Wii Sports,
WarioWare: Smooth Moves,
Mario Strikers Charged Football and
Animal Crossing: Let’s Go To The City.
Yes, that's a repositioning to make room for a sub £200 Project Cafe (Wii 2) before Xmas.
