The loose coalition of computer 'hacktivists' going by the name 'Anonymous' tried to up its wrath against the Sony Corporation this weekend by staging sit-ins a la the UK Uncut movement.Unlike UK Uncut, however, which uses the tactic to protest against things like
huge corporate tax evasion, 'Operation Sony' was set-up to complain about... well, we'll let the chaps from anonymous explain via their
Facebook page:
"IMPORTANT UPDATE
George Hotz and SONY have settled outside of court. The terms of this settlement are unacceptable. The fact that SONY pursued this legal action in the first place is unacceptable.
We will not desist in our protest.
We will not desist in our boycott.
We will not desist."
Basically, the in-store protests resulted not in the downfall of western Capitalism, nor the capitulation of Sony in the face of entitlement crazy zealotry. In fact, according to the Facebook page (spotted by
VGchartz) it resulted in at least one hacktivist buying a Sony Bravia TV.
