THQ has announced redundancies for both Homefront studio Kaos and Saints Row developer Volition, with the former seeing 17 employees laid off and the latter 16.A spokesperson for the publisher seemed to brush off the announcement as simply an everyday occasion, though. "We have had to let go of 16 employees at Volition, our studio in Champaign, Illinois. We must adjust our workforce to fit the studio's current needs, which is a relatively common occurrence in the game development industry."
But don't worry, THQ's not that callous. It's making sure that the affected employees are looked after during the transition to redundancy as well, and that they "are treated with appropriate concern". That's good, then.
"The changes are not expected to affect any current or future titles in development with Volition," the company continued - this extends to future DLC plans for
Homefront.
Sad news all round. We wish them all well.
