Don't count on Nintendo's next home console to embrace 3D technology in the same way that Sony has on the PlayStation 3 - in fact, NoA's president Reggie Fils-Aime has ruled out 3D entirely. It seems that Nintendo's only interested if it can pull off glasses-free 3D in the home. Which doesn't seem like a possibility any time soon really. "Glasses-free is a big deal. We've not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we've learned on 3D, likely, that won't be it," Reggie told
CNN.
3DS creator Hideki Konno also chipped in by saying, "I think at Nintendo, we realise that any sort of goggle-type 3D technology was not going to work. In order to make 3D technology viable with video games, we thought we needed to have glasses-free 3D."
Sounds like a bit of a u-turn from what big bossman
Satoru Iwata said back in June last year. Perhaps he's had a change of heart?
