Further information has surfaced on Square’s first online outing. It has been revealed that players will have the ability to customise their characters gender, job and race, a la Phantasy Star Online. There will be a variety of races, but players should expect the usual selection of wizards, knights, elves and summoners.
As we reported earlier this week, the FFXI playing world takes place on Vana Dir. Little else is known about the game’s plot and it is unlikely more story details will emerge until nearer the game’s release. All that is known is that the once peaceful land of Vana Dir has been flooded with monsters. Simple enough, and no great surprise.
The Japanese launch for FFXI has been set for Easter next year. Don’t expect a UK release before 2003.
