The Code Monkeys Can't Quite Make 25 Years, Shuts Down
There seems to be no love this week for the UK games industry as Yorkshire-based studio The Code Monkeys is shutting down after nearly 25 years making games.

"On the Company's 23rd birthday (1st February 2011), the Directors/Shareholders of The Code Monkeys voted to cease trading," reads a message on its website. "It would've been nice to make the quarter century, but alas..."

The company was established in 1988 and created titles on platforms ranging from the ZX81 to the iPad and everything inbetween - Mega CD, PS1, PS2, Game Boy, Nintendo DS and others. Known for Bug Burst in the 1980s, it is more recently associated with iOS games such as Triple Jumping Sports and Manic Monkey Mayhem.

This news follows word of the the looming closure of Bizarre Creations on Friday. We wish all of these former UK codesters the very best of luck in the future.
