Apple is apparently going to be presenting games to comfortably seated participants using its tiny Apple TV if reports are to be believed.Apparently owners of Apple iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches will be able to control games downloaded via the Apple TV device.
The Register says that, "Text strings spotted within Apple's iOS 4.3 beta release, all prefixed "ATVGames", suggest the company is planning to make this possible, according to a report by TUAW.
Apple updated the Apple TV in September 2010, ditching the original model's Mac OS X derivative operating system and Intel processor, and replacing them with its A4 ARM chip and iOS."
The
TUAW report states that iOS 4.3 could include the ability to involve the user in, "Online gaming, from MMOs to arcade games using Xbox Live-style matches and associated merchandising."
It concludes that, "Beyond your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, these games could be played through the Apple TV. There could even be a new controller in the future, leveraging the infrared or Bluetooth connectivity on the ATV."
