Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford may have been talking up Duke Nukem Forever in Las Vegas last week, but he was totally thinking about Borderlands as he confirmed work on a sequel. In response to why he allowed the eight remaining coders from 3D Realms to handle the remainder of
Duke Nukem Forever instead of having Gearbox take over, Pitchford noted that the character belonged to Allen Blum as far as he was concerned, although he may not take a complete hands-off approach to any future games.
"I’m sure Duke will have some demands of me and I’ve gotta work on
Borderlands 2, right?" he said with a laugh. What's interesting is that in the past, the creative director avoided all mention of a second Borderlands, although had previously said that the idea was a "no-brainer."
Looks like it's happening then. We can't wait to punish some new Claptraps.
