Poor Yoshinori Ono. The Street Fighter IV producer has had to address people's concerns over a potential 'Nintendo vs. Capcom' game, after he joked about such a project in Amsterdam last month.During a 3DS roundtable event - which I was present at - Ono was asked whether he considered adding Nintendo characters to
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition. He enthusiastically, and with a hearty laugh, spoke of his "desire" to make a Nintendo vs Capcom game, and that the idea could be pitched to Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai.
He wasn't serious. Thanks to a multitude of reports stating that it might definitely happen possibly with a pinch of salt, the producer has had to return to those comments and clarify to
IGN that "I certainly don't think anything is impossible, though not terribly likely is probably a way to phrase it."
"I had to go to Nintendo President Iwata-san and actually apologize that I let things get out of hand," he added with a laugh. See that? Joking. But maybe people's hyperactivity will lead to such a project being made somewhere in the future?
Ono-san isn't sure. "Maybe this whole conversation could be the start of something like that… or maybe it ends with me in the dog house with Iwata-san. Time will tell where [this is] going to go."
