Disabled Gamer Gets Dead Space 2 Control
Disabled gamer Gareth Garratt has caught the attention of Dead Space 2 developer Visceral Games after he was left unable to play the PC version due to a lack of re-mappable controls.

Garratt purchased the EA-published space horror with the intention of mapping the mouse as his "walk forward" command, so he could play using his chin. When it was apparent that awkward workarounds would have to be made instead, he made a case on the OverclockersUK forums.

The thread made Visceral sit up and take notice, and on the back of both Garratt's discussion and a follow-up petition to allow for mappable controls, the studio has publicly stated it is working hard on adding the feature in an upcoming patch.

“The Dead Space 2 team is aware of the issue that disabled players are having with Dead Space 2 PC. In fact a number of folks on our team are so passionate about getting this fix done that they are currently working hard to allow players to re-map key bindings to the mouse which should help disabled players enjoy the game,” the developer told Joystiq.

“In addition to the key binding fix the patch will include other fixes for PC players. Thank you for taking up the cause for our disabled players and letting us know about this problem. Once the patch is fully tested we will announce a release date.”
