Looks like the cat's out of the bag - Sony Ericsson has officially unveiled the Xperia Play, the PlayStation-capable phone that aims to give both the mobile company and Google's Android OS a renewed push into the portable gaming space.
The reveal advert, which you can see below, was shown at the American football Super Bowl on Sunday, and is reminiscent of the quirky television spots that used to air for the original PlayStation. In it, the Google Android mascot is seen getting fixed up with opposable thumbs by a dodgy back-alley surgeon. "Android is ready to play," apparently.
Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play features a slider design, which reveals PlayStation buttons in a similar fashion to a PSP Go. Sony aims to release PlayStation Suite - an application that offers PSOne games and other original content - for all kinds of Android phones launching with upcoming OS firmware, however.
