It's that time of the week again folks, where Nintendo lavishes us with a tidal wave of downloadable goodies on its DSiWare and WiiWare platforms. And leading the list of new releases is a fresh take on the classic rocks-n-gems game called Digger Dan & Kaboom.
Developed by Virtual Playground and costing 500 Nintendo Points, this DSiWare title has you controlling Dan, a digger who has something of an unnatural attraction to buried gems. After sending his explosive gopher Kaboom on a scouting mission underground and realising he's been gone just long enough to be declared 'missing', Dan goes on a daring rescue. While avoiding cave monsters, boulders and collecting gems along the way, of course.
Other DSiWare titles include Gold Fever, (TikGames, 500 Points) a puzzle game where you mine your way to California by flipping and matching coins, and odenis studio's Glory Days: Tactical Defence (200 Points) which sees you strategically defending a base from incoming enemies.
The craziest addition has to be Gammick Entertainment's Animal Boxing. As a human settling into an animal kingdom, you have to assert your leadership amongst all other beasts by beating the snot out of them in a boxing ring. As you do. That'll be 800 Points.
On the Wii, you can switch on and find the NES version of totally-not-scatological shooter S.C.A.T. on Virtual Console (600 Points). "The aliens have sent an armada. We've sent two men from S.C.A.T. Should be a fair fight." We bet it should. You can also download WiiWare adventure game Pucca's Kisses Game from BigBen for 1000 Points. It's based on the cute cartoon where Pucca wants to kiss ninja Garu. Ever wanted to know that? Well, there you go.
