David Milch, creator and executive producer of NYPD Blue and Deadwood, has signed up to adapt Heavy Rain to the big screen, Variety reports.He's working with producers Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, whose
company Unique Pictures snagged the project through its first look deal with Warner Brothers. Shaye and Lynne co-founded New Line Cinema together and have both worked on the
Lord of the Rings films.
Milch will start working on the
Heavy Rain script once he's done with the first season of
Luck, his horse racing drama on HBO. Warners is said to be fast-tracking the project.
"David Milch's incredible ability to transform intense and complex storylines into gripping, popular drama makes him the perfect partner for us to have on
Heavy Rain," Shaye said.
