Thank the gods for that! While still not being able to tear itself away from unfriendly numerical 'Friend Codes' Nintendo's 3DS does mean that you don't have to bother entering them again and again.According to Ninty at today's Amsterdam launch event (which you could have followed with us -
SPOnGDotCom - on Twitter), "Fans of online play will be happy to learn that the friend codes for Nintendo 3DS are specific to each Nintendo 3DS system, not each game. Once friends trade hardware codes, at any time they can check their friends list to see which of their friends are online and what they are playing."
What this means is that once you've swapped codes, when your friends come online you're 3DS will flash an orange light in the top righthand corner of the unit alerting you to the fact. You'll then be able to see what they're up to.
And when we say, "Swapped codes", this time we don't mean "typed a code in", you can transfer Friend Codes via Wifi.
