Nintendo 3DS Price War Breaks Out in Europe
HMV wants £229.99 but what about the others
While Nintendo adamantly refused to quote a retail price in Europe for the new 3DS (compared to the USA's $249.99) this hasn't stopped UK retailers from starting the price battle.
As we go to press with this story, Amazon and Game have no price. However, beleaguered High Street retailer HMV is quoting £299.99, while online merchant Play has a price of £219.99. Gamegears, however, has the price as a sub-£200, sitting at £194.99.

Has anyone ordered from these Gamegears people? Any good/bad experiences? For a £35 saving, I'm tempted to cancel my pre-order with Game.

As soon as I saw the price on Games email to me, I thought about cancelling too. Last I saw, the pound was $1.59. No way am I going to pay £230 for the 3DS, especially when I need the cash.
... I don't want to trade in any games from my collection, but I guess I may have to.

The last few EU launches, since the PSP basically, have been priced as Euros the same as Dollars, then converted to Pounds and a bit added on.
EUR 250 is about £211, so £230 fits that pricing scheme.
