Expect the rows once again then

3DS Pre-Orders Begin January 20th
Preorders for the Nintendo 3DS are due to start soon. Pencil in the date of January 20th for your diary if you intend to import... but beware, it's going to be region-locked.

Japanese retailers such as Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera and Softmap will allow fans to place preorders from the above date. The process sees the publisher give the okay before the preorder push begins.

This is a suitable alternative to the machine's official February 26th release date, joined by an expected overnight launch for the device. Online retailers such as Amazon.co.jp are not taking preorders but keen eyes can see the portable available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black variations.

Nintendo is readying 1.5m 3DS machines for the Japanese market come March 31st. Be sure to have your funds ready when the portable is released worldwide.

Will you pick a 3DS up near launch? Any thoughts, feel free to post them in the Comments section below.

Given the claimed short time from the Japanese launch to the Euro launch and the region locking, anyone importing is an impatient fool.

Pre-orders have already started in England. I placed my order on Saturday with Game and noticed that HMV and Gamestation are also taking pre-orders already, despite there being no firm release date.

I pray that the Aqua Blue version is available in Europe. They seem to like sticking us with some vile colours.

I put 250.00 down for mine here in the states at Game Stop. Hoping for a 3DS/Zelda: Ocarina Of Time bundle but I doubt that will happen...then again, I can always dream!
