Fancy a spin? High Voltage Games has compared the reception of its first-person shooter series, The Conduit, to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto franchise. The first game, released in 2009 on the Wii, didn't get a very warm reception by critics and players alike. Senior producer Kevin Sheller argued in a recent
interview that its success will come later down the line - much like it apparently did for
GTA.
"The first two GTA games, nobody knows anything about them, right? Grand Theft Auto 1? Nobody even said that word. They never said two either. It wasn't until Grand Theft Auto 3 that people really got excited about what they were doing," Sheller said.
"We look at the first Conduit as our learning experience, our foundation work – and we'll see where we go from there," he added.
Except for the fact that the first two
Grand Theft Auto games were really quite popular on the PC and PlayStation platforms and endured/enjoyed waves of tabloid opposition, do you agree with Sheller's statement? Let us know in the comments box below.
