Deus Ex: Human Revolution Delayed
Square Enix has delayed the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution into the next fiscal year - some time after April 2011 - as its profit forecast for the current year was slashed by a colossal 91.7 per cent.

The reasons for the move seem to stem from the bodged launch of MMO Final Fantasy XIV - the publisher points to "harsh market feedback regarding a key title," along with "weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year" as motives behind the decision.

"We therefore have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year," Square Enix said in a note to investors.

The game seemed to be shaping up as well. You can read SPOnG's interview with Eidos Montreal's Jonathan Jacques-Belletête here.

"Additionally, since recognizing that our Final Fantasy XIV service has not yet achieved the level of customer satisfaction that fans of our Final Fantasy franchise have come to expect, we have restructured the development organization and will continue the free trial period until we can present customers with a clear plan outlining Final Fantasy XIV's new direction."

The company re-affirmed the delay of the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV. It now expects sales of 130 billion yen and net earnings of 1 billion yen, down from the 160 billion yen and 12 billion yen that it originally predicted.
