Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi has been waxing lyrical about forthcoming plans to support Gran Turismo 5 following its launch last month. He told Famitsu that there will be a new update coming in late December, adding GT Academy for US players and an online tournament for European racers.Apparently, those who enter in the European contest (called SLS Challenge) will be able to win an actual, real-life Mercedes SLS AMG! Christ!
Elsewhere in the interview with Famitsu, Yamauchi explained that update packs including things such as cars and courses are difficult to make (obviously), and thus there aren't any plans as yet to release such content. "They may be added as expansion content, or we may leave it until the next title," he told the magazine.
Somewhat more positive news was the fact that Polyphony are already working on remaking some of the low-fidelity "standard car" models as higher-quality "premium cars." So anyone complaining about the lack of polish on some of the lineup, know that Yamauchi's team are fixing it. Aren't post-launch patches wonderful?
