The official Japanese website for Atlus title Catherine has been updated with details of the game's main story.
The site reveals that the game begins with various reports of a series of strange deaths where young males are dying in their sleep with expressions on their faces, similar to that of famous artwork The Scream. Rumours have also been circulating the town in the game, suggesting that if you experience nightmares where you're continually falling and you don't wake up straight away that this will result in death in the real world.
The story then moves to the game's main male character, Vincent, who is with his girlfriend named Katherine, at a bar he attends frequently in the game. Vincent is fairly happy with his current life; in contrast Katherine wants to get married, leaving Vincent unable to answer her proposal.
Following this scene is an encounter where a mystery girl, entering Vincent's regular bar, chooses to sit right next to him and being his ideal type, ends up spending the night with her. It is from this night of forbidden love that Vincent starts to see twisted nightmares every single night. Could these be the nightmares mentioned in the game's intro?
