Nintendo Wii & DS Taking not Making Hits
The six months to September 30th 2010 have not been kind to Nintendo, with the company showing a a 2-billion yen (£15.6m) loss for the period. This compares to a 69.6-billion yen profit in the same period in 2009.

The company sold 4.97-million Wiis, (compared to 5.75m in the previous year) and 65.21 million pieces of Wii software in the six months to September 30th 2010 (compared to 76.21). it also sold 6.69m DSs (versus 11.70m) and 54.84 software titles (versus 71.15m) for the handheld.

With the 3DS launch around the corner the fall-off in DS sales could be put down to people holding off. In fact both Wii and DS hardware falls could also be put down to market saturation. This would, however, make the fact that software sales for both pieces of hardware have taken hits even more worrying.
