The voice actor for Agent 47 (the main character in the Hitman games), David Bateson, has spoken recently of the next in the franchise, tentatively referred to as Hitman 5. IO Interactive, however, has denied even working with him. When asked in the interview if there has been any talk of a
Hitman 5 in the works, Bateman replies that he has to plead the 5th Amendment and that he is under contract not to say anything. However, when asked the next question of how much fan mail he has received, Bateson lets it slip in his reply on the fans' dedication by answering:
"In all the years of
Hitman, I have been overwhelmingly gratified and humbled by the sheer dedication to the
Hitman franchise that the fans have expressed."
"That kind of dedication and appreciation of the game deserves repayment… with an even more gob smacking instalment in Hitman 5. I don’t envy IO Interactive for the pressure they must under to deliver. I am utterly convinced they will!"
For it's part, however, IO has made its position very clear, stating, "This is rumor control. While Bateson's comments are flattering, they are a surprise - we are currently not working on projects with him."
