Sony UK is to spend £15 million on UK advertising in the run up to Christmas 2001, with a series of print press and TV ads.

The TV commercials, dubbed ‘Chasing Rabbits’, ‘Overboard’ and ‘Bambi’ will be broadcast both on terrestrial and satellite TV this October and November, the busiest period in the video game calendar. All advertisements will be themed around the infamous ‘The Third Place’ campaign, first seen in the weeks prior to the launch of the console.

Games such as WipEout Fusion, Time Crisis 2, World Rally Championship and Jak and Daxter are likely to be among the featured products, assuming they are not delayed until after Christmas.

Sony believes that the campaign will reinforce the idea that PlayStation 2 is the gamers' platform of choice.
