Indie Game Stores Not Out Of Retail Race Yet
Independent games retailers are still putting up some valiant competition against high street mainstays such as GAME, Gamestation and HMV with new store openings for Grainger Games and Alworths.

Grainger Games has opened its 40th store at the start of October, adding to the number of stores it has opened in the last two months in its efforts to expand in the UK. It was also mentioned that this could increase to fifty stores by the end of the year.

The retailer Alworths (strangely similar in name and its offerings to the former Woolworths) has also opened a new store in Hertford, bringing the company's total UK presence to 14 high-street stores to date with a further proposed five additional stores to be opened by the end of the year.

Looks like indie's not dead in the water just yet then.

Gamexchange Ltd based in, Warrington, Ashton & Blackburn , had 7 stores Bolton, Manchester were 2 recently went into administration but managed to buy back 3 stores using its on-line business Gamexchange On-line Ltd. So some are still struggling too and at a cost of around 24 staff.
