Kyoto-based video game guru Nintendo has unveiled its marketing plans for the launch of GameCube in the US on November 18.
Much of the campaign will be standard, featuring print press in over 50 US magazines, including big sellers such as Fan Gamer and Next Generation. TV advertisements are said to begin as early as next week, over a month and a half before the hardware retails.
Cinema commercials are also planned and will begin much closer to launch. The ads are likely to feature prior to highly anticipated films like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
Nintendo’s budget for the campaign is around $75 million (£46 million), a figure that is likely to be reflected in the European launch campaign, still scheduled for Spring 2002.
