'Newspaper' Blames Nintendo DS for Dog Mauling Child
The Daily Mail has decided to run a story about a bull-mastiff dog called Saracen biting off the lip of a nine year-old girl called Megan Walker because she was playing Nintendogs on her DS.

The, now put-down, bull-mastiff apparently dragged Megan off her sofa by her foot after it was startled by the sounds of barking coming from the game.

So, how did Megan - from Bolton - get her lip bitten off by Saracen, who was dragging her by the foot? Apparently a "Ms Melville started kicking him and her second pet dog, named Zena, also attacked Saracen in a bid to save the child."

The 'newspaper' quotes Megan's granny stating, 'I think this game should carry some kind of warning. People should be told not to play it when there are dogs in the room. I blame the game for what happened to Megan. If they hadn’t been playing it I don’t think the dog would have gone for her."

We blame the fact of having an unattended bull-mastiff with obvious anger problems in a room with a child... and then kicking it.

We would not suggest heading to the Daily 'Maul' and posting comments...

Clearly the dog attacked her because she's a ginger.

Dogs, like ever living thing, despise gingers.

Whoa, I hate to start what could turn into a horrible schismatic war... but I like ginger-headed folk. I really do... all of them... if they're a ladies.

Cheers

Well, I don't like dogs, nor the concept of owning pets. But either way, I blame the existence of Nintendogs on dogs. So it's dogs to blame.

Why couldn't a dog attack someone because of the game noises? I find entirely plausible that this could happen, and also no where does it state the child was unattended, sounds like her elder sister was babysitting while mother and the other duaghter were at the nieghbours, it seems to me the dog did attack by maybe grabbing her foot and by her reaction to kick out at that she was fully attacked in the face, a terrible thing to happen but it seems Nintendogs noises instigated the whole thing. I am originally from Bolton and yes its full of scum bags looking for a quick quid in, and im the first to defend gaming over Daily Mail bollox but I think this sounds possible, my dog goes nuts over Nintendog sounds, but my dog is not in the same league as a this dog and my dog also has the knowledge that I would rip its throat out before it could even nip the kids.

@Tim_Smith how about if we dress up like ladies.. you don't like us then :(

My cat does notice when certain noises come out of the TV. but I really don't think that Nintendogs has any blame here. the real question is why this girl was playing with a virtual dog not the real thing in front of her!!

@Spinface Phew. I wondered where that was going for a while. Guess I've seen too many "special interest" videos

I think the child in question was trying to train the dog with nothing but a stylus, which in my experience doesn't work. Look it up on your internet picture boxes if you don't believe me.

@irritant

OK, I think that this is extremely horrible to say. As someone who happens to be ginger and own 2 dogs, I think that your comment is disgraceful and your attitude is discriminating!

The article, I believe that maybe the dog did attack from the noises but warnings should not need to be on the game. Otherwise the same goes for televisions, music and anything else with noise - it is a ridiculous claim!
