Capcom: Not "Alienating" PS3 Owners with Dead Rising 2 DLC
Dead Rising 2 co-producer Shinsaku Ohara has said that Capcom is not alienating PS3 owners with its Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable Dead Rising titles. Rather, Case Zero and Case West are presents to say thanks to the 360 community.

Ohra said that the whole Dead Rising team is feeling bad about PS3 owners getting left out. "I think Inafune said that we're sorry that it seems like you're getting a little bit less of the Dead Rising 2 universe, but you'll still be able to enjoy the full game," said Ohara. "You'll just miss a little bit of extra. We haven't completely alienated PS3 gamers because Dead Rising 2 is a standalone boxed product."

Ohara went on to explain the decision to put the two downloadable titles on the 360. "Dead Rising was our very first Xbox 360 title and Microsoft supported the title all the way. At the beginning we didn't know that this new IP would be a success, but the fans on the console really assisted in making it into one. So it's like a present, something that we gave back to the original Dead Rising fans."

That's all well and good, but we're not sure that Capcom gets to decide whether it's alienating fans, any more than it gets to decide whether people enjoy its games. Are you an alienated, marginalised PS3 owner?

So it's like a present, only you have to pay for them....

Sounds reasonable enough to be honest, and I'd imagine that eventually Capcom will port it so that the ps3 audience will get it. I mean its like how way back when Resident Evil 4 was a "Gamecube exclusive" they got that on the PS2, so PS3 users shouldn't worry any, just be a little patient and wait and see.

Interestingly I and my friends had a heated debate about this last night. I truly believe they ARE alienating their fans in a very obvious way. Microsoft is well known for paying backhanders for exclusive content and this is an example when taking such payment can backfire. The idea of insisting they are gifts when you still pay MS points for them is also absurd. Offering a product on multiple consoles is meant to be a consumer choice. By limiting the immersion of the universe to one specific console results in the alienation of the consumers who did not follow the desired path.
I bought the product on the PS3 despite owning a PS3 just to analyse the differences in quality and knowledge of pre and prior events revolving around Dead Rising 2.
