Sony: PS3 Sales "Better than Expected"
Kazuo Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, said at TGS this week that "As of the end of August, sales (of Playstation 3) look a bit better than we expected".

He also told Reuters that the console is "on track to reach its target of 15 million units for the year to March 2011, with sales for the April-September half likely just above forecast."

Figures for PSN were also rolled out with the claim that 80% of the 38 million PS3s sold links to the PlayStation Network. Somehow, Hirai intends that 100 percent of the consoles sold would be on Playstation network... we assume he doesn't mean the broken ones.

Finally he denied that PSN would be linked to the US-based, soon to hit Europe, online movie service, the Qriocity network.

As for 3D, well forget 3DS, "We want consumers to enjoy 3D in the best possible environment. At this stage, this is only possible on the big screen, with glasses", stated Kaz.

This will make it possible for the viewers to see stereoscopic images without the aid of special glasses reported the ‘Yomiuri Shimbun’.

@headcasephil Yeh,I wear glasses too, it would be a bit of a pain wearing contacts all the time. The technology from toshiba sounds interesting though.
