New Yakuza Game Channels House of the Dead
A zombie shooter. Hands up who saw this one coming?
Sega released a teaser image some time ago for its upcoming title Yakuza: Of The End, leading everyone to believe the gritty gangster series was to see its final chapter. Turns out the game is, in actual fact, a zombie shooter.
Think House of the Dead, in the Yakuza universe. No, you're not dreaming.
The latest issue of Famitsu magazine includes some details; it's some time after the Kamuracho zombie invasion of April 2011, and Yakuza mainstays Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, Ryuji Goda and Shun Akiyama have stayed in the city to defend their homes. Guns are said to be customisable in the game.
Although creator Toshihiro Nagoshi wouldn't say in the magazine that Yakuza: Of The End was a true entry to the action series or simply a spinoff, it would be rather bizarre to treat it as anything other than the latter. He also said that future Yakuza titles might be made on the success of this game.
Remember what happened to Shenmue? We're going to all have to buy this then, it seems.

Shenmue died a death before its, just when it was getting good. This could be a welcome and much needed departure from the Yakuza games we've had to date but time will definitely tell if this turns out to be so.
