It was to be the celebrity gaming match of the century. But if there's one thing the stars learned from last night's packed Halo: Reach launch party, it's never to mess with seasoned gamers.

The all-star Blue Team - which included footballer Rio Ferdinand, TV presenters Jason Bradbury and Jameela Jamil, rugby player Ben Cohen and musician Mr. Hudson - had their proverbial behinds handed to them by a selection of non-celebrity Halo experts.

Despite being led by Halo: Reach contest winner Lewis Chapman, the Blue Team still saw shocking losses, at one point losing 94 - 27 in the final round. This fact was not lost on event host Reggie Yates (of Radio 1 fame), who branded Ferdinand "officially rubbish at Halo."

With over 30 million copies sold in its series history, Halo: Reach marks a blockbuster swansong for developers Bungie. To celebrate, Microsoft announced last night that there will be the inevitable midnight launch for the game next Monday night, at London's Westfield Shopping Centre.

The "celebrity" team were truly shocking at the game which was slightly funny for about 1 round. However, the free bar was far the most captivating thing on show all night, as Spong will testify I'm sure ;-)
