Sub-Dollar Delivery as Amazon Takes on the High Street

Offers guaranteed release day delivery

Sub-Dollar Delivery as Amazon Takes on the High Street
In an attempt to take on the high street, Amazon.com is offering delivery on titles in the US for as little as 99 cents.

The offer applies to new and upcoming titles this year such as Dead Rising 2, Vanquish and Enslaved: Journey to the West. This also makes it cheaper for US consumers than buying said titles from their local retailer as Amazon.com does not incur state taxes at many of their American distribution centres.

Could this be the first initiative from Amazon's poach of Microsoft's long-time Director Games Platform Strategy, Andre Vrignaud?

Do you hope a similar value for money release day delivery option becomes available via Amazon's UK site as well? And more so, would you use it or do you prefer to walk into your local games shop to pick your games up on release? Feel free to post your opinions in the comments below.

I use the free post option whenever I get owt off Amazon, and usually pre-order at GAME for double points unless it's significantly cheaper elsewhere.

I try not to use Amazon for anything, there delivery structure is terrible, I have no problem with E traders in general but Amazon just makes me swear most of the time.

what do you mean?

I've never had a problem with them and pretty fast for free delivery, though it has been known for strategy guides to take awhile
