The director of notorious JRPG Final Fantasy XIII, Toriyama Motomu has recently explained in an interview with Japanese games magazine Famitsu that he and his team intended to release DLC for the title... but didn't. Toriyama said in the interview:
"We were planning to make some DLC, but that plan wound up not happening,"
Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase also commented on the upcoming Xbox 360 release of the title in Japan, explaining the reasons behind waiting until later this year to release
FFXIII on Microsoft's machine:
"Thanks to the new [slim] system and such, the situation's a lot different than it was in July 2008 (when Square Enix announced at E3 2008 that
FFXIII would be PS3-exclusive in Japan)."
The Xbox 360 release on December 16th is being touted as the International Edition, which will include the options for English voices and subtitles. It also has the English theme song
My Hands - sung by Leona Lewis. What's also interesting to note is that a booklet of concept art will be include in this edition together with deleted scenes that did not make the original release on the PS3.
Will you be picking up the International Version of
FFXIII when it is released this December? And how do you feel about the planned DLC never seeing the light of day? Channels your thoughts into the comments below.
