 Mario All-Stars Heading to Wii
The Super Mario Collection Special Pack, otherwise known as Super Mario All-Stars to Westerners is due to receive a release on the Wii in Japan on October 25th.

Listings for the title were up on websites such as Amazon.co.jp briefly and were removed within hours but was deftly captured by Japanese games news website Game Johou (Japanese only) before they were retracted.

The description of the title details that it will be a port of the 1993 release of Super Mario Collection from its original SNES release and will also include a booklet that will recap 25 years of the history of Mario together with a soundtrack that will have a mix of tracks from the original Super Mario Bros. right through to Super Mario Galaxy 2 released on the Wii this past June.

The game is being released in "celebration" of the 25th anniversary of Nintendo's trademark and lively plumber and will be a limited release, according to Amazon Japan's product description. We'll bring you a UK release date as soon as we know it.

Sounds like a delight if you are a big Mario fan. Anyone thinking of importing? Let us know if you'll be picking up the title on release in the comments below.

Once again big Mario news for the Wii. Has any system ever been so reliant on in house games? I mean I know MS have a lot riding on Halo and Sony on GOW etc. but if it wasn't for Mario games would anyone give a s**t about the Wii?

I don't think I've cared about anything on the Wii since the unsettlingly slapped-together Tomb Raider: Anniversary was released for it.

I predicted in my review back in 2007 that the Wii market was destined to be propped up by Nintendo and we'd go back to the GameCube situation.

It's taken a while longer than I expected back then, but I think we're getting very close.

Nope, but I will emulate Super Mario All-Stars. They claim to want to fight piracy, but then pull moves like this. Lack of availability will only increase piracy because you're shutting out what would otherwise be a wealth of potential customers.
