The three titles available at Japanese launch are Wave Race: Blue Storm, Luigi’s Mansion and Sega’s Super Monkey Ball.
In all the play tests since E3, one thing has remained consistent: Luigi’s Mansion has always been seen as the weakest game, with many members of the public and journalists voicing disappointment with the game.
Well, Famitsu thinks differently.
Wave Race: Blue Storm was awarded 32 out of 40. A good score, but perhaps a shade lower than expected. Sega’s crazy arcade puzzler was also rated at 32 out of 40, a respectable score. The big shocker is Luigi’s Mansion.
Famitsu awarded this game the highest score of all, rating the quirky ‘ghostbusting with a vacuum cleaner’ type game a massive 34 out of 40, the highest of the three games.
This leads us to one conclusion: Luigi’s Mansion must have a depth and quality of gameplay that is not apparent in a 15 minute session at a gamepod.
Excellent news. We can’t wait to get a few hours in with our green clad Italian friend!
