Todd Howard, an executive producer over at Bethesda is happy with the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. While he's not saying "Never" to other platforms, he's pretty damned close. When it comes to the Wii, Todd tells IndustryGamers, "From my group, which is the internal Bethesda development team, probably not. The stuff we’re doing is a better fit on the other platforms. You can never say never, but I think for the kind of games that we like to play and make, it fits the other platforms."
Basically, the Wii is just not hardcore enough... and its graphics, well, "Usually, we’re thinking more in terms of graphically doing things that the other systems do. That’s what we get excited about."
So, what of the graphically together iPhone? Following some initial excitement over platform, Bethesda looked at what id Software (owned by Bethesda parent company Zenimax) was doing and decided, well, over to Todd: "For now, it’s definitely on the back burner. We have a game that I’d like to see made one day, but corporately now, with the id mobile stuff, they have a bunch of stuff that’s out, they have a bunch of stuff they’re working on, so I feel, as a company, we have a good foot in that area and we’ll see where it goes."
Surely then the new Wild West of gaming, Facebook, must be in the frame? " I’ve got to be honest: I don’t get it. I look at it and try to understand but for now I’ve just decided to ignore it (laughter). I think, one day, maybe I’ll figure it out, but until then, I don’t see the allure of those kinds of games. There might be a way to connect people. I think that’s always a good goal: to connect people through your game. So I’ve kind of looked into that, how we might be able to do some of those things. But as far as a game on there, I don’t know."
