Remember Project Sora? The secret development that Super Smash Bros. creative lead Masahiro Sakurai was announced with initiating early last year? Turns out it was a Nintendo 3DS game all along. The best part? It was a Kid Icarus game.At long last,
Kid Icarus has been announced for a welcome reboot - it's subtitled
Uprising, and features on-rails blasting in the heavens. While we couldn't see it in the reveal trailer, it will be taking full advantage of the 3D capabilities of the new handheld, meaning enemies will pop out and "surprise players," according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
The trailer in question featured Kid Icarus flying down from the clouds, shouting "Sorry for the wait!," and engaging in all sorts of airbourne action that reminds us of a cross between
Starfox and
Sin & Punishment. The graphics appear to showcase the advanced power of the 3DS handheld, with a fidelity that looks close to Sony's own PSP.
We must admit - we're very excited. Check back later for our own hands-on (and eyes-on) experience.
