Squaresoft’s Final Fantasy X has been given an approximate (and much later than expected) European release date of Summer 2002. What!?
The information was quietly released at the end of an official European trailer for the game. The trailer showed various bits of juicy footage, but it’s going to be a long wait for an eager and now even more frustrated European audience.
Square is claiming that the full voiceover conversion of the game is mostly to blame. However, when released in Europe, Final Fantasy X will feature English language voiceover only, with Spanish, Italian, French and German subtitles.
The PAL to NTSC conversion is not such a time consuming process, so what’s taking them so long?
If all goes to plan, Final Fantasy X can be expected around June or July 2002, a whole year later than the Japanese release. What a shame.
