Nintendo and Namco have released the first batch of screens from the GameCube version of Soul Calibur 2.
Though in an early stage, the game will run and is already equipped with a bespoke physics engine specifically designed to correspond collision of polygons to damage inflicted on the player.
The inclusion of Soul Calibur will put pay to the widely held belief that the GameCube’s somewhat unorthodox controller would deter fighting game manufacturers from developing games for Nintendo’s latest offering. Beat-em-ups were one of the more glittering omissions from the software offering of the N64. Hopefully, this will be the first of many games in the genre for the platform.
