Square Enix has revealed on the US PlayStation Blog that Final Fantasy IX will be hitting the PlayStation Network "soon." It marks the first official confirmation that the game will be re-released in some capacity on the digital download store.Producer Shinji Hashimoto has already detailed the company's interest in launching the cult RPG classic onto PSN in time for its tenth anniversary, following a healthy fan reaction to
Final Fantasy VII and
VIII. Hashimoto's said that
boardroom meetings in Japan were "positive," but stopped short of a full-blown announcement.
We guess it was only a matter of time really, but it's nice to be updated about these things, isn't it? Having said that, despite the reveal, no concrete release date or price has been set for the game. Here's hoping
Final Fantasy IX gets a little more love this time around.
