EA's 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa has enabled us to run a punning headline by going to the top of the ELSPA/ChartTrack UK video game charts. As ChartTrack points out, "It’s not surprising to see FIFA depose Ubisoft’s
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction from top spot with what is the World Cup themed version of the 10th biggest selling game ever in the UK.
"During this week in World Cup Year 2006, the launch of ‘FIFA World Cup Germany 2006’ represented 15% of FIFA 2006’s launch week. ‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’, although released on only XB360, PS3, PSP and Wii (compared to 7 formats in 2006), performs in a similar fashion, recording 14.6% of FIFA 10’s launch week.
"The PS3 version just pips XB360, accounting for 48%, XB360 47% with PSP and Wii making up the rest. It was the other way round at the launch of FIFA 10 with XB360 48% and PS3 46%."
Also new to the chart is Capcom's
Super Street Fighter IV.
