Translation work can be a long, difficult, arduous and above all, expensive process. Rising Star Games has today decided to buck that trend and ask its fanbase for help, teaming up with website Blogocio.net to provide a Spanish version of Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon for Nintendo Wii.The game's script will be handled by 50 dedicated gamers from the DSWii.es community, who will collectively run through 35,000 words and offer the completed work as a free download on the fansite as well as Rising Star's Hoshi portal.
"The most important aspect of this translation is not that the game arrives in Spanish, but that this is the first time in history in which gamers will participate actively in the development process or the localisation of a title," said Hugo Fraga, director of content and marketing at Blogocio Media SL. "That's the really exciting about this project."
That's some real faith in the fanbase there, and we like it.
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon will hit stores on the 19th March, with the Spanish translation appearing online shortly after.
