It seems that Square-Enix has has so many questions from press and rabid fans asking about a remake to Final Fantasy VII, that it relented and asked its Twitter followers directly if that is what they wanted.Turns out that was a poorly thought out idea, as hours after the publisher asked for people's opinions on a
FFVII remake, it posted another status update asking people to stop. The reason? Armies of Japanese RPG fans pummeling the ReTweet and Reply button to show their excitement.
Apparently Square-Enix was 'overwhelmed' and surprised at the 'unprecedented' response, which is proof that whoever's on Twitter duty there really needs to go out to some Japanese shops and see the interest for anything
FFVII related.
The publisher concluded that work on
Final Fantasy XIII: Versus was taking too much time to commit to a remake, but perhaps it is something that the company is looking into. At least it can be said that gauging public reaction has been a complete success - and that was just Japanese gamers. Imagine if Square-Enix opened the question to its Western fans... there would be bloodshed.
Big up
Final Fantasy Union.
